Heather's Poem

THE PASSING OF AN ANGEL If words could make it better, I know what we would do, We'd write the biggest dictionary Especially for you. But it's simply not that easy For the loss you have endured Lies deep within the heart and soul, Such loss that can't be cured. Now Kathleen was born to parents proud, Their only little girl, A cherub full of innocence, A precious, precious pearl. Brothers Brian and Anthony Were next to come along To this family in Treorchy In Wales - The Land of Song! And amid that choir of voices Is where Kathleen went to school, Whilst her dad, the 'long arm of the law,' Helped locals keep to rule. Now Kathleen met Kathleen, our mum, On holiday by the sea, A chalet on our farm was let To this wonderful family. Friendships blossomed forth and grew Over many months ahead, Chatting over an evening meal, Before retiring to bed. Hilarious, hectic, entertaining, Having themselves a ball, If they had time to write a book What stories they'd recall. Now from Treorchy to Detroit, Kathleen's parents they were bound To the New York Police Department Where a job, for Dad, was found. Soon wedding bells were ringing, For Kathleen and Hedley's day. Delighted guests were witnesses To their wedding under way. Now son Stephen was born in Bristol, Then Elaine in West Wickham, Kent And last, but not least, dear Alison, In Beckenham, where next they went. Now these very lucky children Were chosen by Our Lord, And placed into these parents' care, Where He knew they'd be adored. NOW WHAT BETTER START IN LIFE IS THERE THAN TO BE PLACED INTO AN ANGEL'S CARE ? And Kathleen was that angel Who walked among us here She greeted you with so much joy And allayed all inner fear. She made you feel so special And her smile would melt away Any inhibitions One might gather through the day. Now God thought her so special He bestowed her with a gift, Unique to her and her alone, The cutest little lisp. Some might think it otherwise - A burden or a flaw, But no! when God brought Kathleen forth, He said, "This soul's top score." "She's perfect, for an angel, Though, she won't really know it, But as she treads that path of life She'll easily bestow it." She seemed to have that way, indeed, Of putting one's world to right, With a cuddle, words or laughter, And making the future bright. And that's her in a nutshell, She used everything to the good Her little gift from God was such She'd be clearly understood. She met so many on life's road, And all of us were sold, On the fact, I'm sure we all agree, Her heart was PURE GOLD. But even angels must move on, And darker times were growing, She fought to keep her spirits high, But a weaker smile was showing. Then finally, there came His hand, To break those mortal chains, Surrounded by the family's love, Kathleen slipped beyond those reins. The burdens that her illness brought Have melted all away, She travels now on angel's wings, Towards a bright new day. "I want you all to know," she says, I love you very much And when you least expect it, I'll give a gentle touch. Now I am still a part of you, I proudly say, with glee, For in your heart and very soul Is where I'll always be. So, shed no tears but celebrate The life we shared together, For it holds such special memories Which remain with us FOREVER” Heather Edwards 07.06.2012 WE WISH YOU STRENGTH IN YOUR TIME OF SORROW Thinking of you, With love, Rosemary, Gareth, Heather, Hazel, Cheryl and Family.
